FUN
I rate a game on how fun I found it to play. Replayability can also factor into this and some new or weird features a game may have. Fun is more of an all encompassing type of thing, but it's really how much I liked the game as a whole or while getting into it.
SOUND
Sound includes the subcategories Music and Vocals. A game doesn't need to have people speaking in it, but it can only help. Music is basically how nice the music was in the game, or the sound effects, if there were any. Whether it matched the tone of the game, the scene we were in, or if it made sense for what was happening on the screen (if something moved).
VISUAL
Visual is basically just how the game looks. How the hidden object scenes are lit up, if the game looks nice, how you go through scenes, how the characters look, etc.
CHALLENGE
Challenge involves the puzzles and what skill it takes to get through the game. Sometimes games are made to be easy, and sometimes games are really difficult and challenging to get through.
STORYLINE
Every good game has a decent storyline that you can follow. What makes it great is that it might even draw you into it and make you respect or like the characters a little more.
LENGTH
How long is the game? Most hidden object games are short, especially since I play them on casual mode, but sometimes games are just a little TOO short. Maybe there aren't that many places to go, or there's not that much stuff to do. It might even seem too short because it was just so easy to get through everything.
CONCLUSION
Overall, everything is subjective to me, as it's all my opinion. I've been trying to rate games in a way that won't be too heavily influenced on whether or not I hate the game, which is why there are so many categories to base it on. Just because I didn't enjoy playing something doesn't mean it will necessarily be given a really horrible score because there might be other parts of the game that did well.
